Nowadays, so much store is put into language that many words do not mean anymore. Often, one finds that convenient chunks of language are incorporated into seemingly involved, ideologically inspired discourses to make them appear forceful, coherent and honest when, in fact, they are, as Coleman Silk would put it in THE HUMAN STAIN, simply "mouthwash". The violence inflicted upon those who suffer social discrimination every day on account of their race, gender or sexual orientation is only furthered through such dialectic diarrhoea. Language articulates thought and action, true. However, when it is dissociated from those two agents of social reform, as it all too often seems to be, its meaning "fades to grey" -- like the English summer which Visage sung to during the eighties. Like I said before, "las palabras se las lleva el viento".
